Thoughts of the Future

I constantly finding myself wondering how the future will change. There seem to be so many factors to take into account that could change the world. I often think of a few of them.

One of the most obvious would be the state of North Korea and Iran. Looks like Iran are on the brink of sorting themselves out. The people are not happy with their current government and could force a change from the corrupt government currently in control. At least they look like a country ready to progress. I do however wonder about North Korea, as do we all I am sure. Will the mad man in control loose the plot and Nuke someone before he goes? Lets face it he hasn't got much time left and he may figure "What have I got to loose?" The People around him must have so many privileges by keeping him in charge else I am sure we would have seen some unhappy people by now. Could the Situation in Iran influence a change there?

On a more positive not of course we have our technology development. Everything we have seems to be developing at a stampede! From the simple cell phone/PDA to Multiple virtual machines running on single physical machines. The technology built into a car to the technology used to build sky scrapers. Earphones to the development of high speed travel to space!!!
The world can only get faster with more information, greater quantities of knowledge and a heck of a lot more ideas to be exchanged and debated. This of course looks to a very bright future.
Or maybe a more controlled less private one......hmmmm

Just another effect it climate change. In the near future we will be finding ourselves with extreme weather conditions. We probably would find ways to adapt with technology and the ability to educate that many more people through internet resources. But we tend to forget the about what wars could be caused. It has already been surmised that we may be fighting for water in the future. With many countries in Africa the Middle East and Australia already struggling with drought it's not a hard future to see. There are more and more first world countries finding themselves with less and less water, yet their inhabitants seem oblivious to the fact that they shouldn't waste water. (Britain is one of the worst I have seen with this)

Now days we also seem to be having more and more racial/religious tension. I did think this was something very old but it seems to be getting worse again. Some sort of cycle of violence. Could we be on the way to a war without borders? I know a tall order but there do seem to be more and more people influenced by the ignorance of others. The dangers of having such an easy way to distribute information I suppose.

it appears we have always been war like beans. There is one difference however, most of our past wars have been out of greed. This time it could be out of necessity for water to live or defence against an ignorant aggressor who doesn't like you race/religion/nationality.

Ten years of technology

It just occurred to me the other day the pace at which technology is now moving. It is moving at a rapid rate!!!! I can remember just twelve years ago getting my first mobile phone. I thought it was the greatest thing ever. It was funny because it was expensive to and only maybe one in three maybe four people had one. It didn't take long after text messaging became cost effective for everyone to start getting phones, in fact by the end of 98 it was becoming very fashionable to have a Nokia phone.
I remember how I used to install windows 3.11 and Dos 7 onto the same 5G hard drive just because certain things wouldn't run in windows (i.e. games). I even remember some of the games like police quest. This was cutting edge. Or the first War Craft (still a cool game in my eyes) that was installed from 8 disks which it was PK zipped to.
Another was our TV sets with their VHF video players!!! What was that all about!! I remember how cool it was to have a car with a tape deck. Ho weird was it that when you made arrangements everyone made sure they where there and on time!

Now days it's inconceivable to not be able to check your emails or even worse your facebook status from your phone. Your phone that has GPS mapping, a camera, web browsing, MMS messaging and it is still used to speak to people and send text messages. And everyone has a phone now.
It is also now normal to have a 150G or more hard drive for one operating system (unless you one of those like me who likes to play and tries more than one!). We even have vertualization software to run multiple systems on one machine. Games are just huge and practically have 3D effects.
You can even stream movies from you computer to run on your home cinema system over wireless connections. We have little MP3's and Ipod's we can just plug into our car stereos which hold hundreds of songs.
We seem to be moving faster and faster towards more integrated systems. I reckon it won't be long now that our car stereo will sync with our phone/mp3 player which we have just downloaded new songs to as we heard something new on the radio while shopping.
It is still funny how when organizing to meat people now we are always late or phoning to say we late!!! Well it just shows how fast paced our lives are becoming.

Thursday Elections

Okay I think I may be closer to a decision on where my vote is going to go on Thursday. I have come down to my two choices. Lib Dems or Green Party. You might have been able to guess that from my previous blogs, if not read them again and you might see my leanings. I didn't realize I had them till I read it again!!!

Here is my reasoning so far:-

Labour :- Old and need a change. Don't get me wrong I think they have done a great job but there are too many issues they need to overcome. Gordon should have named his successor and then carried on running the country until the election. I don't think there is anything wrong with him just no one has voted for him.
Conservatives :- Very gimmicky when things go wrong for Labour. Have a lot of good ideas at the moment but are still just number crunchers. I am sure they will move a lot of numbers around and make things look good but I am more than just a
number.
UKIP :- I think there are more important issues in the world than keeping my local pub British
BMP :- Racist f*cking idiot wa*kers!!!!!

So that leaves me with Lib dems and Greens.

I am thinking for the EU elections I shall go Green Party and see how they fair. I will use this info for the general elections afterwards. If Lib Dems need a just a few to get in then I may vote there way but so far all the policy and ideas I prefer are with the Greens. Both are against racism and both have ideas on Europe which make sense economically. I would like to see Greens with more seats though.....

Well on this Thursday go the Greens.......

I think it may be to soon for me to decide for the general election, I will have to keep an eye out!!!

Terrible writing

I have just been having a read through one or two of my previous posts, my writing is atrocious!!! I think I will perhaps have to attend a creative writing course. I can't believe how what I am thinking just doesn't seem to flow the way I would like once I have written it down(or typed it down as it happens)!!!

Anyway I think I shall sneak off and have a think to myself......

Well another day..

Well today we find ourselves a few days off the EU elections. I find myself wondering about how this all effects us. What sort of impact does this all have on the EU? What effect does this all have on each individual country within the EU? And, from my point of view anyway, Britain? How will this effect each of us as individuals?

Increasingly I find that people now days don't seem to follow or understand politics in the UK. I really think the politics are very disjointed from the people in Britain and they really don't understand that there Vote does count!! It has been a very strange phenomenon that could actually change British politics, the phenomenon of GREED!!! With all the MP's dirty laundry been hung out in the public eye, the people have been showing there discontent!! The politicians have realised how unhappy the public have become with them so are considering some drastic changes in Parliament.

I wonder with these changes whether the are changes that have now finally been realized that have to change or if they are just gimmicks by the current leading party's to keep the main vote! Many people have decided on a protest vote and are going to give it to one of the smaller party's. Unfortunately there are far to many people that don't actually know what these smaller party's stand for! There are a shocking number of people who would actually vote for the BNP!! Yet if they new what the party actually stood for they would try have them banned!! (I would if I could, the KKK are band in the states so there brother filth should be band here!!) There are a huge array of smaller party's to vote for which have better policies that actually make sense. If you really felt you have to do a protest vote to the right the whay not someone like the UKIP. My opinion is that there are a host of issues in the world more important than keeping my local pub a traditional english pub though. The of course there is also the Green Party on the left. My opinion is that this party actually have a really good understanding of policy and are actually talking of things that make a lot of sense, like using green incentives to create more jobs! Two things that should be on the top of our agenda in this day and age.

The other side of the coin of course is to Vote for the Lib Dems. This could bolster there popularity enough to actually have a fresh government. We havn't had a Lib Dem Governmnet in Britain yet, I sometimes wonder if this will be enough for them to capitilize on and gain a some spot light.

Anyway I think this next year will be interesting in politics.......

First BNP leaflet!

Just got my first BNP leaflet today through my door!! Now after my first thought of disgust I had a bit of a thought, how do they know who's door they putting their leaflets through? Both my wife and myself originate from another country, imagine we were at the door when he put it through! Would he want to beat us? Weird Question I know but these people are generally not known for their intellectual prowess except for one or two misguided ring leaders who usually have some sort of agenda.

Thinking a bit more about it I realized my neighbors are Nepalese and some people in the houses across the road are Jamaican. Both you can actually tell are foreign, unlike my wife and myself who are distinctly white looking.... I just wonder how they felt when they saw the same said leaflet.

The Next question is - How does one party with such extreme ideas actually manage to get so many followers? Surely these people are laughed at? What happened to the days people boycotted buying South African Produce because of Apartheid? Have people forgotten the atrocities such a government actually committed?

I think I have come to the conclusion that people have stopped talking about how bad this sort of behaviour can affect a community. Maybe there should be a new module in school that teaches morals?

Anyway just a rant.......
